Hi! My name is Gracen Alsheimer, and I am the artist behind Gray Handmade. My goal with Gray Handmade is to spread community, connection, sustainability and joy through functional and wearable art. I work primarily with ceramic and stainless steel to make unique pottery and jewelry.

I attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington where I majored in Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics. UNCW is where I fell in love with clay. In particular I enjoyed working with wild clay (clay you dig up out of the ground versus clay you purchase or mix from dry materials). I graduated from the Honors program at UNCW in 2025 after completing my Honors Thesis, An Evaluation of Wild Clay for Handmade Ceramics.
